Your skill level doesn't matter, you CAN discover the voice you've always wanted.

Hello, I'm Doreene!

Singing teacher & song writing coach in Salt Lake City, Utah

I discovered the amazing (and life changing) Speech Level Singing technique in my 20's and found a whole new voice. I learned how to finally MIX/BLEND my singing voice from the brilliant Seth Riggs and his Master Teachers.

When I was confident in my own ability to sing using the technique, in 2002 began the rigorous process to become a Certified SLS voice teacher. With the yearly educational classes, lessons and workshops under the guidance of Seth and his teachers, I advanced to a level 4 (out of 5) authorized vocal teacher before the company changed direction. For the last 23+ years I have been continuing my education to be the best voice teacher I can be.

I have always loved participating in choirs and musicals. I even had the opportunity to be the Musical Director for a show. The friendships, the music, the dancing and singing... times I will cherish always. I've been in musical groups that traveled around the valley, sung for charity events, corporate parties and killed Open Mic's and Karaoke Nights! I was even asked to be a judge a few times at Karaoke contests. Ahhh good times.

Learning to perform on stage doesn't come easy to everyone, and for me it is the same. I've spent many years (and lots of money) attending workshops, having one on one sessions and getting help from everyone I could, to be my best self on stage. And even though sometimes I still have bad moments (I am human after all), I can say proudly and with confidence that I actually look forward to any opportunity to sing in public.

When I first started singing, songwriting wasn't even on my radar. It took a fellow singing teacher from Nashville offering a workshop for writing that got me started. And I have been hooked ever since. I always liked writing, but never had any guidance. But with positive feedback and support from brilliant writers working in the real world, I found that I had a talent for writing songs.  I've had the opportunity to learn from amazing writers around the world and I'm proud to say that I am having some pretty cool things happening with my songs and am excited to see where it takes me. I am also a member (for over 12+ years) and for the last 4 years have been the Salt Lake Chapter Coordinator for NSAI..Nashville Songwriters Association International. I LOVE songwriting.

While being a certified teacher with Speech Level Singing, I was pleased to be a part of the yearly Artist Development Program in Hollywood CA. From 2003 - 2010 I was an integral part of the leadership team and received awards (and some cool plaques to prove it) for my dedication, hard work and service.

What's Your Singing Bucket List?

Cheering on and being a part of my clients fulfilling their singing dream, absolutely thrills me! Seeing my clients land roles in their favorite musicals is so rewarding. High School musicals, Community theater, making it into High School Madrigals or MDT is a bucket list item for so many people. I am beyond honored to be a part of the process.

Making the decision to pay or 'book' time in a recording studio is a big deal. I am delighted every time I get to guide my clients who are ready to be Recording Artists. I am beyond thrilled when they ask me to coach and direct them personally in the studio. 'Laying down a song', whether it's an original or a cover is an exciting time and I get such pleasure in seeing the growth of each singer as they are ready to put their music out into the world.

Learn to LOVE your voice!

More than just a singer, now become a singer songwriter!

When my clients say they are ready to write original songs, I kinda get crazy excited. I absolutely love guiding and teaching anyone interested in songwriting. Encouraging singers to dig deep to find their style in writing combined with their voice is totally my jam. For those interested in pursuing the life of an independent artist, songwriting is a huge piece of the pie, and I live for the creative process.

Singing In Public

Singing in public really is a SKILL. It's something that most of us have to learn. And sometimes it doesn't come easy. I have been so lucky to have learned from professional performance coaches throughout my career who live, breath and eat all things performing. Coaches from Vegas, LA and NY who know what it's like to be in the center of the battle to be the best.

I have incorporated a Monthly Performance Workshop to help my singing clients find comfort, confidence and even joy (instead of terror) being on stage. Because SO many struggle to overcome stage fright, I have made it my mission to help my singing clients learn to relax and have fun while singing on stage.

I can help you build confidence when performing!
